Thanks to our partnership with Tarleton State University, you can earn a full bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering without ever leaving the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ campus. You'll start with foundational courses at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, then move directly into upper-level Tarleton State classes right here in Waco.
Which degrees are offered?
Tarleton State currently offers the following degree through the University Center at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree Plan
If you're pursuing the Mechanical Engineering degree, follow À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ's AS in Mechanical Engineering plan. Just make sure to take Thermodynamics in the fall and Mechanics of Materials in the spring of the year before you move into the Tarleton State program.
How are classes offered?
Tarleton State engineering courses are held on the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ campus and taught by Tarleton State faculty. Some classes meet in person. Others are taught live by video from another location—but you'll still be in class with your À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ classmates. A few labs may require an occasional trip to the Stephenville campus, but most of your work can be done right here in Waco.
When do I need to apply to Tarleton State?
You won't need to apply until your last spring semester at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ—usually when you're taking courses like Mechanics of Materials, Dynamics, and Differential Equations. Check the for deadlines and application steps.
Can I take classes at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ and Tarleton State at the same time?
Yes! A special agreement between À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ and Tarleton State allows you to be enrolled at both schools in the same semester and still receive one combined financial aid package.
Keep in mind that Tarleton State engineering courses have strict prerequisites. You'll need to finish the required À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ coursework before moving into upper-level classes. Many students start their Tarleton State courses while still completing general education requirements—like English, History, or Government—at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ.
